Haldi, Mehndi & Sangeet Invitation Messages: 40+ Samples to Copy
Copy-ready Haldi, Mehndi and Sangeet invitation messages in English, Hindi and Hinglish — card wording, WhatsApp texts, one-line captions, combined schedules, dress code lines and day-before reminders.

The main wedding card gets all the attention, but much of a wedding week's WhatsApp traffic is about the smaller functions: “Haldi kab hai?”, “Mehndi mein kya pehnein?”, “Sangeet kitne baje shuru hoga?”. Each of these needs its own few lines — a different time, often a different venue, and a different mood.
Below are Haldi, Mehndi (Mehendi) and Sangeet invitation messages you can copy as they are: card wording in English and Hindi, WhatsApp messages in English, Hindi and Hinglish, one-line captions, combined messages for families who club two functions together, and reminder texts for the day before. Swap in your names, dates and venue and send them, or put every function on one digital Hindu wedding invitation with its own time and map.
Quick answer
What Should a Haldi, Mehndi or Sangeet Invitation Say?
A pre-wedding function invitation needs six things: whose function it is (the bride's, the groom's or both), the function's name, the day and date, the start time, the venue with a map pin (or “at our residence”), and the dress colour — yellow for Haldi, green or any bright colour for Mehndi, festive or Indo-western for Sangeet. Add one warm line that sets the mood and the family's name or number. On WhatsApp, keep it under about 60 words.
What to Write for Each Function (With Dress Codes)
Timings differ from family to family, so treat this as a guide to what guests usually need to know, not a rule.
| Function | Usually held | Colour to suggest | Tell guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haldi | Morning, a day or two before the wedding, often at home | Yellow, or old clothes | Haldi stains — say so, so nobody turns up in silk |
| Mehndi | Afternoon or evening, one or two days before | Green, pink or any bright colour | Whether there are mehndi artists for guests, and roughly how long it runs |
| Sangeet | Evening, often the night before the wedding | Festive, Indo-western or sparkly | The start time, when dinner is served, and whether family performances need rehearsal |
Every message below follows the same order: whose function → what → when → where → what to wear → who is inviting. If you write your own, keep that order and guests won't have to call to ask.
Haldi Invitation Messages and Card Wording
Haldi is the most informal function of the wedding, usually just family, neighbours and close friends. The wording can be warm and a little playful — but elders still like the date, time and a clear “aap sapariwar aamantrit hain”.

Pre-Wedding Invitation Etiquette: Dos and Don'ts
Do's
- Call elders first, then send the message — a forward alone can feel careless
- Mention the colour for Haldi and Mehndi, so photos look the way you imagined
- Say if the Haldi is at home and add a map pin for the house
- Give the dinner time for a long Sangeet evening
- Tell guests if mehndi artists are there for them too
- Send close family the Haldi and Mehndi; send the Sangeet to the wider guest list only if they're invited
Don'ts
- Don't send the Ladies Sangeet message to the whole family group if it's ladies only
- Don't put four functions in one paragraph — one line per function
- Don't forget the day of the week next to the date
- Don't write the date only in numbers — “12/11” is 12 November in India but 11 December in the US
- Don't send the full schedule to guests invited only to the reception
Checklist before you send
- Whose function, and which one?
- Day, date and start time correct?
- Venue name and map pin right — or “at home” with the address?
- Dress colour mentioned for Haldi and Mehndi?
- Dinner time for the Sangeet?
- Family name or a number to call?
For the main card's wording — the Ganesh blessing, the parents' names and the pheras — see our Hindu wedding invitation wording guide.
Put Haldi, Mehndi and Sangeet on one invitation
The Hindu Traditional design opens with Shree Ganeshaya Namah and lists Haldi, Mehendi, Sangeet, Wedding and Reception — each with its own time, venue and map, and one-tap calls to both families. Free to design and preview.
Frequently asked questions
Write whose Haldi it is, the day, date and start time, the venue (often “at our residence” with the address), and ask guests to wear yellow or clothes they don't mind staining. Close with the family's name. For example: “The Agarwal family invites you to the Haldi ceremony of our daughter Ananya on Friday, 11th December, at 10:00 AM at our residence. Do wear yellow!”
Short lines that work well are “Henna, music and a little magic”, “They say the darker the mehndi, the deeper the love — come and see”, or in Hinglish, “Mehndi lagi, ab shaadi pakki!”. Follow the line with the date, time, venue and whether there are mehndi artists for guests.
Most families ask for yellow (or old clothes) at the Haldi because the paste stains, green, pink or any bright colour at the Mehndi, and festive or Indo-western outfits at the Sangeet. Put the colour on the invitation or in the WhatsApp message, so guests don't have to ask.
Not usually. Most families list every function on the main invitation, each with its own date, time and venue, and send short WhatsApp messages or reminders for each one. A separate message makes sense when the guest list is different — for example, a Haldi only for close family or a Ladies Sangeet only for women.
A Ladies Sangeet is a traditional afternoon or evening of dholak, folk songs and dancing, usually at home and mostly for the women of the family. The modern Sangeet is a bigger evening for both families and friends, with performances, a DJ and dinner, often at a venue. Say on the message which one it is and who is invited.
Both spellings are correct transliterations of मेहंदी, and both are used on Indian invitations. Pick one and use it consistently on the card and in your messages.
Send them with the main wedding invitation, usually 6–8 weeks before the wedding, so guests can plan travel and outfits for every function. Then send a short reminder the evening before (or the morning of) each function, with the time and a map link.
